Cara , 36, lives in the Duloch area of Dunfermline, along with her husband, Simon and three children, Louis (7), Sophia (3)and Luca (1). Louis attends Duloch Primary School and Sophia is at Duloch Nursery. 

Originally from Grangemouth, Cara attended Grangemouth High School and studied Politics at the University of Strathclyde, graduating in 1997.  Cara moved to Leeds in 1997, working at the Department of Health HQ and at City of York Council.  She then worked for 9 years as a Researcher at the Central Office of shopworkers trade union, Usdaw, assisting members with employment problems and supporting officials in wage negotiations.

Cara returned to Scotland in 2007 and until June 2011, worked in the Scottish Parliament as Parliamentary Researcher for Karen Whitefield, MSP.  She currently works in Dunfermline as Parliamentary Assistant to Dunfermline & West Fife MP, Thomas Docherty.

Cara has a BA (Hons) in Politics from the University of Strathclyde and a Masters in European(Employment) Law from the University of Leicester. She has recently completed an OU Diploma in Child Development.

Cara has been a Labour Party member for 21 years, joining in 1990 at the age of 15.  Cara is also a member of the Co-operative Party and shopworkers union, Usdaw.

In her free time, Cara enjoys spending time with her children, Italian cookery and catching up with friends.
