Caron has been involved in local community activism having “discovered” community work in the mid-90’s. Since that time, Caron has also re-entered education and now has qualifications in supervision and management; leadership; a BA in community education; and is currently studying for a certificate in teaching in the lifelong learning sector.
Caron is very new to the political scene, having only joined the party 3 years ago. She was inspired to join during Gordon Brown’s time in Downing Street and believes that local politics is the next step up from community activism and that by putting herself forward for selection has shown her long term commitment to making a difference in the communities she hopes to serve.
Caron lives with her teenage son, two dogs and a cat, and leads a very busy life, what with a full time job working for the national charity, Home-Start UK, serving as a trustee of the Voluntary Action Fund; a trustee of the Christina Mary Hendrie Trust; being heavily involved with Benarty Community Forum Group and serving (until recently) as Secretary for 3 years, and studying for her Certificate.
Caron is passionate about community empowerment and would like the opportunity to engage meaningfully with constituents in order to serve them as effectively as possible.
Caron’s family live in the Benarty area and Caron lived much of her life there as well as attending St Kenneth’s Nursery and Primary and Ballingry Junior High School. Her parents and many of her relatives and friends still live in the area.
