Local MSP Marilyn Livingstone visited Specsavers in Kirkcaldy on Thursday 19 November to help with their fundraising activities for Children in Need.
The Kirkcaldy constituency MSP was invited to Specsavers on the High Street to join in with their fundraising efforts which included a selling home baking, a ‘dress down’ day for the staff, running a competition to win a pair of designer glasses, a colouring competition for children and encouraging customers to dig deep for the charity. The shop raised over £130 for Children in Need which contributed to the £18 million raised nationally for the annual appeal.
Susan Gibbs from Specsavers said:
“We are thrilled with the fantastic support from our customers and staff and are happy that Marilyn was able to make it along for part of the day”.
Marilyn added:
“I was pleased to be invited to Specsavers to help with their fundraising for Children in Need.
“A lot of companies and people in the local area work hard to raise money for Children in Need every year and I was happy to play a small part in that by visiting the High Street store.
“Specsavers have a strong track record of raising money for charity, such as for Guide Dogs, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and Diabetes UK, and our local store should be congratulated on carrying on this tradition for Children in Need.”
