A local councillor has raised safety concerns about the delay in replacing a traffic light at a busy junction on Chapel Level.
Local Labour councillor David Ross said “This light at the Chapel Level junction with Rosemount Avenue, has been missing for 6 weeks now. It is only a matter of time before there is a serious accident here.”
The light controls traffic going in the Sainsburys direction along Chapel Level and used to have a filter for turning into the Dunnikier Estate.
“With the signal missing, it is difficult for drivers to tell whether or not it is safe to turn at the junction. It also means queuing cars can block the road for other traffic users. I have seen a few ‘near misses’ myself at this junction in recent weeks. The light needs to be replaced before a serious accident happens.”
“The traffic light was hit by a vehicle a couple of months ago. I raised this problem with the Council’s traffic managers at the time and the light was replaced shortly afterwards. But within a few days, the light was hit again and had to be removed. It should have been replaced again, but 6 weeks on nothing has happened.”
“I spoke with transportation officials again last week and was told there was still no date for installation of a new light. I have received an assurance that this work will be followed up as a matter of urgency. But this delay of over 6 weeks is just not good enough.”

These transport officials should try driving this area and perhaps they would be a bit more keen to get their finger out.
Is that not the problem, the majority of the council officials dont live in Fife and for them it is just a job. There was a time when the council officials had a pride in the area and took pride that they were public servants, but not now it is just about the money and plenty of it at that
